This Day the Lord has Made

Dear Loved Ones,

Greetings from our Haiti. Once a visitor asked me how we were using our days. It was very hard to give him an idea of what a typical day for us looks like. All the days are not at all the same.

Let's take my Monday April 24. We woke up around 5:00 AM with a wake up singing of people going to an early church service. At 6 we had our morning prayer while we were waiting for the water to start running again after they turn the generator on. Around 7, we had water and we cleaned ourselves. We had a light breakfast of cereal in hot water.

At 8:00 I was at school reviewing the material before the 9:00 o'clock class. At 9 we were following the students who had to present a paper on the importance of a prayer in one's life. Many questions were raised. Many of these students are not Christians and have no solid church background.

At 11 we were out. We had time just to drink a glass of water before going to hear a senior student who was defending his thesis project. In the French system, to graduate with a Bachelor degree you need to write a project of over 70 pages and defend it in front of a crowd with 3 jury members. Then you are asked questions to prove that you really know what you have written. It may seem very difficult sometimes and very embarrassing if one is not able to respond correctly to the questions.

At 1:30, we had our lunch. I was trying to take a nap when a group of students came knocking at the door. They wanted some money as my contribution to their project. They have decided to build a house for a man who had served the church for over 40 years but now in the old age, lives in a very bad condition.I spent some time talking to them. These students did not arrive to their dorm when another man came in asking for money because he wants to run for a political position. He wanted me to finance his propaganda. Around 4:00 another man who has a tap tap-a pick up used for public transportation wants some money to fix his pick up. I was tired and unable to do much. At 6, a poet came wanting me to write an introduction of his new book of poems and to help finance the publication of it. He started reading some to me as proof of his talent which he really has. All the requests of money are on hold until God answers them in one way or another. Wish you could join us in praying for those different needs and many more.

At night we decided to just sit and do nothing more since I was used up. At 9 we were in bed when we heard a knock at the door. We decided to ignore it.

Well we enjoy doing what we are doing in spite of the knocks. Those knocks are part of our ministry and we deeply appreciate them.

We pray and trust that you are doing fine and enjoying the days the Lord gives us.

Thank you for being behind our ministries.

Yours with gratitude,

Nzunga Mabudiga
