Kristy will begin traveling on August 22nd and return to the Dominican Republic in late October. Some of the already confirmed speaking dates are:

She is also working on plans to be in the Kansas City area, Omaha area as well as central and west central Illinois. If you are interested in having Kristy visit your area, don’t hesitate to contact Soozi Ford or Becky Cooper as soon as possible. Travel time is limited so get your reservation in now and hear how Kristy is working in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Are you interested in volunteering or learning more about how you can get involved?
This is the perfect time to contact either Soozi or Becky and find a time for Kristy to visit your organization and tell you about the different ways to get involved in the ongoing work in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Kristy has worked for over 10 years in the Dominican Republic organizing medical teams and helping volunteers get involved in the many projects that are so essential to the Good Samaritan Hospital and the Maranatha Mission.
If you are an individual or
an organization that would like to find out how to begin working with Kristy
and these ministries, there are several ways to begin. First, go to www.internationalministries.org
and visit Kristy’s webpage to read more about the ongoing work in La Romana and
Haiti. You could also visit her website
at www.kristynurse.org where you will find out more information about all of
the projects and opportunities that volunteers and teams have in La
Romana. Finally, scheduling a visit with
Kristy this fall and having a chance to ask questions face to face is the best
opportunity.
Please contact Soozi Ford by email at soozi.ford@gmail.com or Becky Cooper at rrcooper@consolidated.net to schedule a visit.
How is Kristy supported?
International Ministries, as many of you, has suffered under the economic struggles of our times. Many of the funds and donations that this ministry has relied on for years have diminished as churches close and individual donors have lost jobs or experienced personal financial struggles. This has also affected our missionaries, like Kristy, who rely on donations from churches and individuals to make sure she can stay on the field.
The World Mission Offering through the American Baptist Churches (ABC) is one way in which churches and their members can help support Kristy and other ABC missionaries. As this offering is received during the months of September and October, the ABC family has the opportunity to let missionaries know that they are not forgotten and that their work is important. Wouldn’t you like to send that message through your gift this year? Let Kristy and others know that you support the work that they do and you want them to continue to help the most needy in this world.
If you are not a member of an
American Baptist church and you want to help Kristy through a financial donation, there are
several ways that this can happen.
First, Kristy needs monthly donors to commit to giving towards her salary
support. If you can help with even the
smallest amount, please log on to
www.internationalministries.org/missionaries/63 and sign up to be a monthly
supporter for Kristy’s ministry. Your
gift is so appreciated!
If you don’t
want to make an online donation or you don’t have access to secure internet
service, you can send your donations to:
International Ministries, PO Box 851, Valley Forge, PA 19482-0851.
Please indicate on the check that this is for “Salary Support of Kristy Engel.” Finally, if you are interested in supporting the different projects that Kristy is involved with, including medical care of indigent patients, water filters, costs for transportation and ministry expenses, you can send your donation to International Ministries and indicate that it is for Kristy’s “Project Funds” or “Specific Funds.” This will let the mission know that these monies are to be applied to project funds and not her salary.
Either way that you can financially support the ongoing ministry and work of Kristy Engel will be greatly appreciated. No amount is too small to change the life of others!
Update on Nelson and Angelica
Thank you for the outpouring of support that we received for Angelica and Nelson, the two children I recently wrote to you about. Angelica is getting her surgery scheduled and Nelson is still undergoing studies and treatment for his condition, which is probably spinal tuberculosis. Nelson and his family still need a lot of support so keep collecting and sending the donations in. I will continue to update you on his progress.
Update on “New Truck Fund” for Kristy
As of today, donations have
been made in the amount of approximately $20,000 and the goal is to have
$30,000 by the end of September. If you
are able to make a donation specifically for the truck fund, you can send that
donation to International Ministries at:
PO Box 851, Valley Forge, PA 19482-0851
or send the donation through your AB church as a “specifics” gift. Kristy’s current truck is 10 years old and she is desperately in need of a truck that can safely help me travel to and from the villages where she works. Because the roads are so bad to and from the villages, her truck has taken a beating over the last 10 years. She is not looking for anything fancy, just a reliable and safe way to continue doing her job. Thank you for your help on this project and special thanks to those who have already donated!
