Ministry Moment
The Maranatha church just celebrated their "moisson" or harvest festival. The service began around 9am on Sunday morning and ended around 5pm. That's right...8 HOURS of celebrating in church! As you are reading this, I imagine many are groaning at the prospect of sitting in church for this long but shouldn't we be thrilled to be able to celebrate all God has given us and be more than willing to tell others? (By the way, the church service was standing room only with attendees pouring out the front door and into the street!)

Ministry Updates
It's a puppy! Yep, I've welcomed a new member into my family, Sasha, a golden retriever/golden lab mix. She's full of energy and after a few days of jealousy, Kobe has decided that she's pretty cool...except when she tries to eat his food! They play a lot and Sasha keeps Kobe company when he can't come with me to the bateyes. Pray for MORE energy for me as I am remembering what it's like to get up while it's still dark and take the little cupcake for her first walk of the day! Too early for me!

On another note, the church band whom many of you love, Revelacion Maranatha, will be on tour in the USA again this summer. Please check out their website, http://www.revelacionmaranatha.com to find out their schedule so you can support them and enjoy a concert. Please bring your friends and others whom you know would enjoy the music and energy of one of their concerts. They will also be helping out with Katrina relief through work in New Orleans, during this tour, so as you support their ministry, you continue to allow them to minister in new and exciting ways!

Current Needs
The Dominican Republic is desperate to receive eye surgical teams for cataract surgery. At a recent 1-day clinic, 1000 people showed up for consultations! Please contact Moises Sifren (samaritano@verizon.net.do), hospital administrator, or Angela Suderman or Jonathan Hilsher at International Ministries if you are interested in helping. Thank you!

Other Notes of Interest
I want to thank everyone who sent birthday and Easter cards. My friends here thought I must have thousands of friends in the US since I received so many! I told them I do! For those who continue to send mail, please remember the new mailing address: Kristy Engel DMG-8780, 100 Airport Ave, Venice, FL 34285
As for my schooling, it is coming along. I just finished turning in my final assignment for my research class (46 page research proposal for testing anemia in the bateyes!). I also had a letter to the editor accepted for publication in the Journal for Nurse Practitioners. I have not heard when it will be published. I am taking another class this summer and three in the fall. Keep the prayers coming! I should finish in the winter of 08/09.

Thought for the day...
Mother Theresa once said, "We can do no great things...only small things with great love." What things are you investing your time in?
