Dear Friends and Loved Ones,

Greetings. This past Sunday September 19, I left my house early in the morning to go visit some of the earthquake victims who were relocated to hospitals we have in the northern part of Haiti. I stopped at the hospital of the Haitian Baptist Convention that is being built. I met with its staff on duty and introduced myself. When I walked in the ward where some patients were lying down, I heard some patients yelling “Mamy Nzunga, Mamy Nzunga”. I greeted them all and sat with some of them for in depth visit before the prayer.

I was struck by the story of Dieulitha, a lady from Carrefour-dent, in Miragoane area, South of Haiti. The day of the earthquake in Haiti, this lady teacher went to Miragoane (their city) to buy some goodies to resell in order to make the ends meet. After she finished buying, she was on her way to go find a tap tap (a pick up used for public transport) to return to her village. Before she made two steps, she was down almost dead. The depot collapsed killing many people right there. She was picked up and piled up with the rest of the dead persons.

A high school boy went to see just to fill up his curiosity and found that one of the dead was the lady teacher from his village. God gave that boy an extraordinary courage and force to pick up the almost dead lady and took her to the hospital. After two days in the hospital in Miragoane, they took her to les Cayes hospital but they could not help her. Two weeks later, she was taken to a Dominican Republic hospital where Korean and American doctors operated on her. She was again in coma twice. After months in the Dominican hospital, she was transferred to Milot, near our city of Cap-Haitien. In the Milot hospital, she met somebody she knew years ago. That old friend advised her not to stay in the hospital in Milot because they had too many patients. The Haitian Baptist Convention hospital in Quartier Morin offered much better care then any where else.

Dieulita had a broken spine. She was laid up for almost eight months and developed bed sores on her back. A week ago she started to sit with the help of somebody. The doctors wanted to amputate both legs but she would not let them do so. She still believes that God will restore her legs to their full use like the sick person at the swimming pool: John 5: 1 - 9.

The teacher is paralyzed from waist down but in a cheerful mood. She is married and has three kids (8, 6 and 2 years old). Our visit to her as well as to many other patients was a big relief but also a possibility for them to have an opportunity to buy some food and to get some clothes.

You all cannot be here and visit these patients. Your prayers and your financial support means more to them in midst of the crisis of their life.

Thank you for supporting us and them.

Yours serving Him in Haiti,

Kihomi and Nzunga Mabudiga

 Dear Friends in Christ,

As Kihomi said we can not be there to help in this time of dire need.  But in a way we are because we support Kihomi’s and Nzunga’s ministry.  They are bringing God’s love and caring to the bedsides of these victims and not only supporting them with prayers but in practical ways by seeing to their physical needs also.  This is an amazing story of one saved from certain death by a student taking action.  You are saving people also from both physical death and eternal death by sending Nzunga and Kihomi there in our place.  Thank you so much!
