Dear Loved Ones and Friends,

Peace of our Risen Lord on each one of you. It seems that Haiti will never disappear from our TV screens. Months ago it was the devastating earthquake, now it is cholera, the presidential election and the hurricane Tomas. Each event affects the country in its own way.

Cholera however has brought with it a couple of beliefs that are spreading around the country as the epidemic itself. Here are some.

You don't greet by shaking hands.

You don't hug people

You don’t kiss

You don't share the bed with a person suffering of cholera

You don't sit close to somebody in our public transportation

You don't touch the body of the person dead of cholera

You don't attend the funeral of the cholera person

You don't eat the sea food

You don't bathe in the river

You don't wash clothes in the river

In midst of the fear that has invaded our hearts and our minds, we have people who bravely go from one community to another teaching the real fact about cholera and prevention. They are women who work in the program known as CHE (Community Health Evangelism) which Kihomi heads up in the Haitian Baptist Convention. Without the courage of these dedicated women, without their spiritual conviction, the fear and myths that cholera has brought about can paralyze us all to the point that we can not go out and we can not do anything.

Thank you for keeping us close to your hearts.

Yours in Haiti

Nzunga & Kihomi

Dear Friends,

Sometimes I say to God “Hasn’t Haiti suffered enough”.    He answers yes, so I am sending Nzunga and Kihomi to show them my love and to help them.  Thank you for your part in God’s plan.  Please encourage others to join us.

In His Name,
