The Good Samaritan and the Two Artists

The whole country may not look as if much progress has been made, but in individual and family lives there have been many changes a year after the earthquake. You find even Haitians like Danise helping Haitians.

Walking along the streets of Limbe, a Haitian Baptist woman found two young women standing together on the street crying. She stopped to comfort and talk with them. They said that they had been brought north to Limbe by a friend who could not then take care of them. They had nothing with them and didn't know what to do and where to go. Without another word this kind lady gave them 500 gourdes ($10). The following day she saw them on the street selling a type of Haitian donuts. She asked them how they could do that. They said they had used the money she had given them to buy what they needed to make the donuts to sell.  Then she asked who they were and they told her that they were the victims of the earthquake from Port-au-Prince.  That day she followed them and asked them what they used to do in life before. She discovered they were artists.

This fine lady proceeded to find them a room to live, gave them a bed, some chairs, a couple of plates and food to start with. Later she bought them art supplies. Her hope is that they will now be able to sell their wares and take care of themselves.

Later, when asked what they knew about God, they said they knew that God had created them and was their Father. They recognized that the lady who helped them was a good person and that God had sent her to them. However, they said they have not yet a decision to follow God. Pray that through this Christian “Good Samaritan,” the young artists can come to God through Jesus Christ.
