Dear Loved Ones

Greetings from Haiti.

Over ten years in Haiti, we have gone through at lot of devastating situations alongside our brother and sister Haitians to whom all those calamities are lifetime problems: Hurricanes, floods, earthquake, epidemic disease, political & violent manifestations. In all these situations, women are the one to pay the heavy price as everybody cries and turns to them for every service.

With the cholera epidemic, the women of Haiti have been the hardest hit by the consequences. Whether as patients or primary caregivers, women are directly involved and more exposed. They take care of their family members whether at home or in the hospital.

When the disease strikes the women are the ones doing the patient cleaning, bathing, and lifting. They are also responsible for cooking the food, feeding, and washing the dish and the dirty clothes at the hospital.

Some areas have seen a decrease in cholera cases only to see an increase after a short time. Doctors are predicting an increase of it when the spring rains start.

Women are recognizing the need for them to take the lead in prevention. Prevention education is the key to protecting not only women, but families, churches and our Country of Haiti.

To be prepared for the difficult task of educating the masses, “Medical Ambassadors'', an international organization in Community Health Evangelism (CHE), organized a training session to equip trainers and health agents from all institutions who are involved in health education and prevention program.

At this training, the Haitian Baptist Convention was represented by the Women Association that I head up. I was there, present, with 8 other women from the Association.
We are now getting ready to organize the cholera trainings and health education and prevention campaign in churches of the Haitian Baptist Convention.

Thank you for being the hearts, the feet, the hands, ... in short, the channels through which JESUS is healing the people of Haiti and stopping the cholera epidemic in the Country.

In His Name,

Kihomi Nzunga.

Dear Supports,

Jesus healed everywhere He traveled and showed us that this is a vital way to show His love.  Those who are drowning are crying out “Save me”.  We must be ready to pull them from the water with practical “lifesavers” and then they will be inclined to listen to John 3:16.  They will see God through these acts of mercy.  They will know us by our love!  Keep praying for healing of the Haitian people, healing of their spirit and healing of their political problems that do not meet the needs of the poor.  Pray the Kihomi and her CHE ladies will continue to have the strength and perseverance to meet those needs.
