Tropical Storm Noel Update

There have been many letters and phone calls asking me how we have faired during Tropical Storm Noel and I wanted to send an update to everyone. Please continue to pray for all of those who have been affected by this storm, both here in the Dominican Republic and those in other islands in the Caribbean.

First of all, those of us in La Romana are safe. There was minimal damage here on the southeast corner of the island. The majority of damage we are seeing is minor water damage in homes. The bulk of damage happened in the southwest part of the island in areas like Bani and Azua. Flooding, due to the onslaught of heavy non-stop rain for many days, has taken out bridges and flooded homes. People have been living on their roofs and in any building that has remained somewhat dry.

For several days, communication and power were unavailable. The death toll is currently over 100 in the Dominican Republic. U.S. and other international aid is beginning to arrive. The Dominican government is continuing to rescue people from the flooded areas with helicopters.

Also, Madeline Flores is the International Ministries missionary working in Santo Domingo and surrounding areas. I am sure that she is updating the mission as to needs and projects that may be taken on. Donations to International Ministries at this time will help to have project money available when these needs come in. I would encourage you to make a special donation within your church or small group to help with these inevitable needs.

Blessings to you and yours and thank you for all of your prayers.

Love in Christ,

Kristy
