Dear Loved Ones,

Peace of our Lord be with each of you as we all celebrate the Thanksgivings tradition soon.

I left my house Saturday October 29, 2011 at 6:00 AM for the capital city of Port-au-Prince where I was supposed to visit all our Baptist Churches in this earthquake city.  On my way to Port-au-Prince, I stopped in Gonaives to have rally of leaders of the central area. As it has always been the case, I take advantage of those visits to counsel, to visit the sick and shuts in.

In Gonaives, many women struggle not only for the loss of loved ones in the earthquake, but also the loss of all they had and loved ones during the two floods of 2004 and 2008. Many have not yet overcome the trauma and may never.

I visited the Baptist church of Carrefour, Siloe and Salem. The churches of Siloe and Salem lost both their pastors during the earthquake.

In general people are in very good spirit even though they are struggling to live. Most men are still jobless and women as always have the burden of caring for the families. Most of women live by selling whatever they are able to.

We also had a rally of leaders of the churches of the capital city. Seven churches were represented at this leadership rally.

Mrs. Bernadette was among those I visited in Port-au-Prince. She had 3 major surgeries, plus was in a coma a couple of times due to high blood pressure and diabetes. The family was desperate in October when I visited her. Thank God she is recovering as you see her smiling.

Because of time constraint, I could not visit all of them as I was obligated to return home after 5 days in the capital city.

Thank you for praying and supporting us.

 Yours,

 Kihomi Ngwemi

Dear Friends,

Few of us have ever experienced the trauma and loss that many Haitians have.  Kihomi continues to be Christ’s loving presence and encouragement to these that have lost so much.  Thank you for you role in keeping this ministry where it needs to be.  Pray that the healing can continue and joy can once again be part of these people’s lives.

 In His Name,

 Dennis Shewell
