Dear Loved Ones,

Peace on each one of you. We are doing fine over here. Since last Sunday we have ten missionaries from Seattle, WA visiting different aspects of our ministries and getting their hands and feet wet and dirty.

Our Haiti continues to make progress in many areas of our life. The newest one is the first traffic light in the city of Cap-Haitien. It was put up Tuesday, April 24. We are very excited about it. It is right next to the Tourist Market, so all the missionaries got to see it. They were impressed that it also counted down how long you had until the red light, even better than the ones in the States. We are on our way back to joining the rest of the world, and surpassing them, now that we have a traffic light. The traffic light is also close to the Police Headquarters, on the Boulevard, a very central, important location.

Please join us as we celebrate God's wonder with the first traffic light in our city!

Yours,

Nzunga & Kihomi

Dear Friends,

It may seem odd to us that a traffic light could cause such excitement.  Most of Haiti is similar to life in the USA in the 1800’s.  I have often joked that the bold go first in Haiti as there seems to be no rules of the road here.  I have never seen a traffic sign let along a light.  There is a light near the airport in Port-au-Prince but only the red worked and most ignored it.  Roads are so bad that you can’t go very fast so maybe that makes up for the lack of rules.  With modern communication Haitians know how far behind they are and anything that modernizes life there is celebrated.  I’m sure this light probably only works when there is electricity which is not often.

Nzunga and Kihomi gladly labor for the Lord in this world of carrying water long distances, no modern conveniences, a disease epidemic is always possible and occasional political upheaval.  They don’t see all these problems but see beautiful people that are children of God.  Their presence brings hope to the lives they touch.  Thank you for supporting them.
