4 PM 5/5/12

Greeting. Kihomi left the house at 4:30 AM for a 5 day visit in 6 churches in the plateau central region. Her truck was loaded with all kind of boxes for the needy. She left the first church in Massaide in the afternoon and is on her to Thomassique where she is going to spend the night.

The voyage is progressing fine but they have to cross a couple of over flowing rivers with no bridges. At 4 PM she called to say that they were under heavy rain and could hardly see the road. 20 minutes after her call, she called again to say that they have arrived at one over flooded river and can not go across. They stopped there not knowing what to do next.

They badly ask for prayers

It has been a most difficult and miserable trip Kihomi and her team have undertaken. It is the rainy season in Plateau Central and all the rivers are extremely high in the volume of water level. They have been stuck in mud, been lost since the main road has been barricaded. Now it is 8:30 PM they have arrived in front of a big river that they cannot risk crossing at night when they can’t see clearly. The water level is very impressive, too high. They are going to spend their night there in the bush. They can not even figure out the distance that is left before getting to our Baptist Church of Thomassique.

Prayers needed, please

Yours,

Nzunga

Dear Praying Loved Ones,

Greeting. Our God is a strange God and works in thousand ways. Kihomi and her team were going to sleep in the truck in the field since there was no road. As they finished saying their night prayer a stranger came passing by in that night.  By some kind of miracle, the driver talked to this man who encouraged them not to sleep there. The driver and the strange person went on foot to inspect the level of water. The man got into the water to see how deep the water was. They both decided that the truck could go without any trouble. They came back up where the truck was to get the team. They crossed that water and decided to give the strange person a ride. The man got off some where to go to his house and Kihomi continued to the church of Thomassique. It was pass 10 PM when they arrived.

They have been well received and they all have forgotten how difficult it was to get there. This morning they had the Lord supper and working with women this afternoon. They leave tomorrow afternoon for another church and if it rains again, another saga.

Thanks for keeping them in your prayers.

Dear Friends,

You might think this is an unusual one in a lifetime story.  Unfortunately it is not.  Travel in Haiti is unbelievably rigorous and not for the faint of heart.  In the rural areas if you make 10 miles per hour you are doing great.  No gas stations, no AAA, no rest stops and often not much of a road.  None of this stops Kihomi and her women from doing what needs to be done to minister to those in need.  Thank you for donating to buy the truck, thank you for donating to the ministry and thank you for keeping them in you prayers.

In His Name,
