Dear Loved Ones,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

God continues to operate miracles in our life. Here is the latest we have just experienced. Kihomi left our house for a tour of churches in the far end of Haiti. She visited the churches of La Savanette, Corporan, Lascohobas, Baptiste, Liane- Riche and Beladere.

She spent the whole week going from one church to another. She returned home after six days. The next day was the day Dr. Steve and wife Nancy were returning from their year furlough in the States. Only two days after they arrived home, Kihomi became sick with dengue fever (“break bone fever”). We thought of this dengue fever as being far away from us and never dreamed of having it in our life time in Haiti.

Kihomi was struggling not knowing what was wrong. We thought it might be exhaustion but did not know how to begin to treat exhaustion. After two days, we called Dr. Steve and his wife Nancy who came right away. After listening to the complaints, right away they knew it was dengue fever. As medical people they ordered her to stop some of the medications she was taking for her blood pressure. They didn’t want her pressure to drop too low. She started taking fluid. They were here to visit us morning and night. They added prayers to their visits.

In less then a week, Kihomi has drank over 60 bottles of Gatorade. What a blessed gift to have experienced doctors with us. What would we do if they were not here? Many Haitians doctors don’t know much about dengue fever because it is more in the Dominican Republic then Haiti.

How can we explain the fact Dr. Steve and wife Nancy were here just in time to help Kihomi? God operated our Christmas miracle. To have experienced doctors around calms our minds and we can sleep calmly knowing that they are there for us.

Thank you for your support to all our missionaries.

 Yours in Haiti

Dear Friends,

I live in a small Indiana town of 5000.  We have a small hospital, several doctors and a constant care center open 24/7.  Less than an hour away are major hospitals.  Having the care we need available is taken for granted.  Missionaries in 3rd world countries can not take health care for granted and what is available varies widely as to its abilities.  Thank God for Dr James and his wife Nancy that they returned in the nick of time.

What Kihomi was doing on this trip will be detailed in the journal following this one. Please pray for her to recover fully and quickly.

As always, thank you for your support.

 Yours in Indiana,

 Dennis Shewell
