Dear Loved Ones,

Greetings. I have been teaching for years now. For some time, I introduced the idea of training young teachers here at our Universite Chretienne du Nord d'Haiti. Our hope is to work ourselves out of job when the time comes. This experience has been well received around here. Many of these young people I have trained  have gone to the States and to Europe for their masters and returned to Haiti. Their return has been an encouragement to all of us.

This year, besides having to teach 167 freshmen students on how to be good citizen in this world and how to be responsible, productive in their life, I also have two assistant professors to train on teaching at the university level. One of the two is Christine Paul who is also secretary to the academic dean of the school.

Christine has a degree in business administration and is well known around here as a shy and well behaved girl since her childhood time. When she was assigned to me, I was asking myself how to train a shy girl to face 167 students. Sometimes I did not have the right words for prayers.

I decided to work on Christine's psyche, boost it and make her feel competent to do anything. Everyday, I will repeat to her some phrases. One day I asked her to pray. At the end, I can tell that she did not like the experience.  I went from that experience as being the most needed prayers I longed for the day. And Christine you made my day, I conclude our evaluation session of that day.

Now listen to me Christine. You are going to prepare the importance of water in one's life and especially in the life of university student. We met many hours to go over her research paper. Then I became the classroom representing the 167 students. She taught me how she will be teaching the whole class. I took time to listen to her and to correct her.

The real day of the teaching came. We invited Christine parents and friends, the president of our university, the financial officer, some professors and Kihomi to attend the class.  Before we step out into the class, as it is our tradition, we prayed together. I told her these words: Christine, today it the day. You are not going to sell yourself cheap. Don't forget the president of the school is here. Your parents are here. Show them that you are a new Christine and ready to become a university professor.

At the end of her teaching, students applauded as if they did not want to stop clapping their hands. Christine taught much better, far better than I do. Everybody saw in Christine a dynamic and capable professor of tomorrow.

Please join us as we pray to find a scholarship that can help Christine pursue her Master degree in order to teach at our university.

In Haiti,

Dear Friends,

Public speaking is the number one fear of most people.  When I was in a corporation I saw it hold back many capable people.  Helping someone over that fear is a hard job and takes great patience.  Nzunga and Kihomi both have that gift and it is a large part of their ministry.  Countless young people have come under their wings over the years who now are leaders in Haiti.  When out and about in Haiti we run into them everywhere.

Some of the journals that will follow this one show this ministry also.  Please pray that God will show them those they should be mentoring and that we will see the need to financially support even more scholarships to allow it to happen.  $1500 will cover a year of tuition at the university.  Compare that with what it costs here.  It is a wonderful investment in the future of Haiti.

In His Grace,
