Dear Loved Ones,

Greeting. Please be praying for us over here. This week is the most difficult one. We have two big deaths one after another: Tony Casseus and Pastor Jordanie Mompremier.

Tony Casseus is the first and the only son of our university President, Dr. Jules & Laurel Casseus. Tony spent some time with our children when they were in Haiti. I was with Tony last Sunday afternoon in his hospital room. This past Monday Tony Casseus passed away while they were taking him to Dominican Republic. His family has become our family. We have shared bad times as well good times.

Today Thursday at 4:00 PM, Pastor Jordanie Mompremier passed away. Pastor Jordanie is one of the respected lawyers in the border city of Ouanaminthe. He was our student working on his Bachelor degree in theology and became a good friend to our family. He has helped us by organizing escorts when we take visitors to the border city.    Lately thanks to his personal impact he secured us a place there where the eye clinic is able to consult eye patients and provide to them appropriate care.

All these people have become families to us. Being so far away from immediate families, we have replaced immediate families with the families we make in our host countries. These deaths affect us deeply. While we grieve for those we see here, we also think of those back home we don't see and we will never see in our life time.

Please keep us in your prayers.

Dear Friends,

Life expectancy in Haiti is barely 50 years.  Death is always just around the corner.  Many times it is due to lack of things we take for granted and are not costly.  Clean water, vaccinations, pre-natal care, and medical intervention before it is too late.  I remember Pastor Jordanie well when we visited the border.  A big man with a big smile.  He will be missed.  Please pray that those left will be comforted by God’s presence and that Haiti can find the leadership to improve conditions there so this is not common.

Weeping with those who weep,
