High School Boy in Micro Loan Program
Dear Loved Ones,
This is our second day and we are in the late afternoon going to Darbonne where we will visit a rural clinic that was vital in helping the victims of the January 2010 earthquake.
We were well received, well housed and well fed. The women are really making some progress with their loan program. The Darbonne women are trying an experiment that soon may spread around the Country. They have included two high school boys who sell prepaid phone cards in order to have their everyday ticket to school. The two boys are doing well since we all are on the phone day in and day out talking or texting. And those prepaid phones do sell very well in the Country. Poor but we can talk.
In Darbonne as well as in Carrefour-dent, women have gone behind the survival skills. They have been deeply involved in assisting the poor and the needy. This is to say what they gain with their everyday small business; they share with those in need.
I was very much encouraged to see that women are leading the way in assisting others.
Thank you for being part of the loan program.

Dear Supporters,
The micro loan program is a great way to help these women help themselves. It is having good success. I thought the poor bartered for their needs as cash was hard to get. When cell phones were introduced a few years ago we found that they can get there hands on cash when the incentive is high. Everyone has one. They are a great help in times of emergency and families keeping in touch when travel is hard. On my first trip to Haiti boys were sent out as runners to inform people we were having a meeting at a certain time. That is no longer necessary.
Peace,
