Dear Loved Ones,

Greeting. Those of you who have been in  the tropical countries with no permanent electricity, no air conditioners, know well how the sweltering heat can drain out all your energy and let you feel tired all day. It comes time when one asks himself or herself if he/she is not sick because of tiredness.

The tropical heat and the high of humidity reduce considerably the efficiency of our workers. Let us say that it kills you while you are still standing. This has been the case at our eye clinic. Many times, our patients and our staff suffer because of this tropical heat in the big waiting room. The fans help but blow the same hot air in the room.

We have prayed and we have wondered over this situation. Thanks to your generosity, thanks to your love, thanks to your caring spirit, the eye clinic has the air conditioner units that furnish cold clean air in the patient’s waiting room. This has been a big achievement. Believe me. Patients are now amazed to sit in a cool room. Visitors say thank you. The Haitian Baptist Convention leaders say thank you. The staff say thank you. We all say thank you.

Please that know that your name may not appear in golden letters but we say thank you.

In Haiti,

Nzunga & Kihomi

Dear friends,

I have been to Haiti in the fall twice and it was not too bad.  But once I went in August and it is brutal.  This is a blessing to those working at and the eye clinic and the patients.   Thank you for your support.

Peace,

Dennis Shewell
