Dear Loved Ones,

Greetings. 

 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,  I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. Mat. 25: 35-36".’

This Friday I left our house early to visit the sick and shut-ins in our community and its surrounding areas. It was very healing to those I visited as well to myself.

 In one of my stops I visited Mrs. Rosa who is really struggling with a broken shoulder. She went shopping a day after the first presidential election result in the country. Mrs Rosa finds herself in midst of unexpected riot and violence. At this open market people were throwing rocks and bottles everywhere. While trying to run through the crowd, she felt and broke her left shoulder.

 She came home without realizing that her shoulder has been broken. Because of the unbearable pain, she went to a local clinic. With no X-ray, the doctor told her that she was fine. She was kept in this “fine speech” for 10 days. She was swelling all over her upper body.

 She then was transferred to another clinic where they were able to x-ray her shoulder. We pray and hope that she is now getting the appropriate treatment. The sad fact is that this lady depends on her husband having nobody else to help her cook. And the man is gone most of time in search of means of survival.

 At another stop, the family I visited was asking when they will get a visit from their pastors.

 My visit, the prayer and the assistance I brought were of big help to all those I was able to see today. It was a veritable relief indeed.

 

Thank you for helping us to be the extension of your love, your caring hearts and the feet and hands of our Savior.

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.  He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed.  Luke 4:18

 

Nzunga and Kihomi do so much more than their job description.  They are aware of the hurting in their community and bring the love of Christ to them in many ways.  Do we know the hurting in our community or just in our church?  Do we visit those in need or is that the pastor’s job?  I am always amazed at the out pouring of love in December such as Christmas baskets, shoebox ministry’s, clothes drives, etc. but then it is over.  Let’s strive this year to pretend its December all year.
