Dear Loved Ones,

Easter greeting to all of you. He is indeed risen, our savior. We were busy this Easter season. From Monday March 21 to Thursday March 24, many women were meeting in Ferrier, North East part of Haiti, for some training on economic and leadership development.

 On that Monday I had to take many of these women coming from the Artibonite region of Haiti, to Ferrier. It was fun and interesting to see those women comfortably seated in our new Van. We praise God for His goodness to us all.

When I dropped the women in Ferrier hoping to join them Tuesday early morning, I got cold and my nose was running. I decided to stay home and let other trainers practice their teaching skills.

On Thursday, the day the seminar ended, I arranged to pick up those women and drop each one of them at the bus station to head on home.

Friday evening, I learned that two of these women got seriously involved in a motorcycle accident. The same two women were also involved in motorcycle accident when they were coming to the conference. They decided not to share the news of their accident with me. They didn't want to make me to be preoccupied by the situation.

This Saturday March 26, I left my home at 6 AM to go visit the victims of accident. Since the arrival of motorcycles in our country, many persons have been victims of this kind of accidents. Many more have died.

Our two women are lucky to have survived when the motorcycle lost its steering wheel while descending the Puilboro Mountain.  They are in good spirit and I was glad to hear “God saved us" from both of them.

Thank you for your prayers, your support of all kinds. We are here visiting the sick, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked.

Friends of Nzunga and Kihomi,

 

I know of many circumstances where Kihomi wanted many more women to be part of conferences but space in vehicles were limited.  Those who were chosen were in for a cramped and uncomfortable ride over rough roads.  The new van is a greatly appreciated for its space and comfort.  Money is still needed to pay for it.  Please put “Haiti Mission Van” on your checks.

As far as motorcycles go it is like driving in a swarm of bees.  They dart everywhere, sometimes loaded down with passengers or items.  Sometimes both.  And they are sharing the road with bicycles, carts, buses, trucks, animals, and people walking with huge loads on their heads.  Couple this with no one paying any attention to traffic laws (if there are any) it is a miracle that no more people are hurt or worse.  I saw one motorcycle with 6 people on it and each, except the driver, holding a big basket of goods out to the side.
