A todas las mamás... ¡Felicidades

Hoy celebramos el día de las madres y felicitamos a todas las mamas reconociendo el gran esfuerzo que hacen para echar sus familias adelante. Recordamos las palabras de Jesús: “Mujer, e ahí tu hijo.” Después dijo al discípulo, “He ahí tu madre.” (Jn 19:26-27)

Las mujeres acuerpamos el misterio de la vida y con estas palabras Jesús pone en nuestras manos el acuerpar la humanidad; el nutrir la vida de todos/as. Pero a veces es imposible.

Recordamos en este día a las 11.8 millones de madres de familia en condición de pobreza multidimensional en México. El mayor porciento están en los estados con mayor presencia indígena; Chiapas (74.3%); Guerrero (64%); Puebla (61.2%); Oaxaca (59%) y Tlaxcala (57.8%). Estas madres luchan por la vida y necesitan nuestro apoyo y nuestra fuerza.

Por reclamar la justicia y el bienestar de muchas de estas madres, recordamos a Beatriz Alberta Cariño Trujillo, indígena mixteca fundadora del Centro de Apoyo Comunitario Trabajando Unidos (CACTUS) y luchadora de los derechos humanos quien fue asesinada en una emboscada de paramilitares el jueves 27 de abril en San Juan Copala, Oaxaca cuando acompañaba una caravana humanitaria. También fue asesinado Juri Vaakkola, observador internacional originario de Finlandia. Ambos murieron producto de disparos de arma de fuego. Los asesinos arrebataron una madre a dos niños de 8 y 5 años de edad y despojaron a un esposo de su compañera de la vida.

Nos duele que el clamor de los pueblos originarios siga siendo aplastado. Nos duele que los poderes del mundo ahoguen los espacios del reino. Nos duele que las madres que dan vida, sean despojadas de las oportunidades para vivir, ellas y sus hijos/as.

Ayúdanos a orar por la paz, la justicia y la cordura en México. Por las madres que luchan por un futuro mejor para todos/as los hijos/as del mundo. Que Dios de fuerzas a los que luchan por alcanzar una vida justa y digna para todos/as.

Oramos por ustedes madres, para no caiga tu fe, que no caiga tu esperanza

Happy mothers’ day…

Today we celebrate Mother's Day and we congratulate all the mothers recognizing the great effort they make for the well-being of their families. We recall the words of Jesus: “he said to his mother, “Women, here is your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Here is your mother” (John 19:26-27).

Women embody the mystery of life and with these words Jesus put in our hands the responsibility to nurture the lives of all. But sometimes we can`t.

On this day we also remember the 11.8 million mothers living in poverty in Mexico. The largest percentages are in states with greater indigenous presence, Chiapas (74.3%), Guerrero (64%), Puebla (61.2%), Oaxaca (59%) and Tlaxcala (57.8%). These mothers struggle for life and need our support and strength.

For claiming justice and looking for the welfare of many of these mothers, we remember Beatriz Alberta Cariño Trujillo, Mixtec Indian founder of the Center for Community Support Working Together (CACTUS) and human rights fighter who was killed in an ambush by paramilitaries on Thursday April 27 in San Juan Copala, Oaxaca when accompanying a humanitarian convoy. Also killed was Juri Vaakkola, international observer from Finland. Both were killed by gun fire. The murderers took away a mother from two children aged 8 and 5 years old and stripped the life partner of a husband.

It hurts that the plight of indigenous peoples goes unheard. It hurts that the powers of the world choke the breaths of the kingdom. It pains us that mothers, who give life, are deprived of opportunities to live, they and their children.

We ask you to help us pray for peace, justice and understanding in Mexico. Help us pray for those mothers who are fighting for a better future for the children of the world.

That God grant strength to those who seek justice and dignity for all.

We pray for you, mothers, that your faith do not waver, that do not falter your hope.
